Leading an audit team implies additional responsibilities for an auditor, such as:

  • Distributing audit tasks among the audit team
  • Conducting the audit opening meeting
  • Assuring the communication interface between the audit team and the auditee
  • Monitoring team performance and make and redistribute audit tasks as necessary to assure a successful audit
  • Conducting the audit team interim and final meetings
  • Conducting the audit closing meeting

You can find detailed information about these responsibilities at ISO 19011:2018, sections 6.3.3, 6.4.3, 6.4.4 and 6.4.10

Based on the items listed at section 6.4.3 of ISO 19011:2018, elaborate your personal audit opening meeting checklist. Rehearse your audit opening meeting speech as a lead auditor based on it and check if you ticked all the items and if the order in which you positioned them in the list matches your natural communication style. Make adjustments to your checklist as necessary and then use it to open the internal audits at your organization.
